"Blood Moon" Lunar Eclipse over South Lake Tahoe, California. Taken on April 14, 2014 from the top of Roundhill Peak on the Nevada side of the South Shore. This photograph can be printed in super large sizes with perfect detail and is quite spectacular at 40"x66.5". It can be special ordered as large as 60"x100" without sacrificing the quality at all.
The Blue Star- Spica is just to the right of the moon with Mars up and to the right of Spica. My residence off of Khale Blvd can be seen in this photograph in the housing at the bottom of the image. The lights that have a trail leading down on the right side are the reflection of those lights in Lake Tahoe's water. The casino corridor with Harrah's, Harvey's and Mont Bleu can be seen middle left and Lakeside Inn casino on the left side above the housing off of Khale Blvd. The 78-minute total eclipse was the first in a tetrad, or a series of four consecutive total eclipses occurring at approximately six-month intervals. It will be followed by eclipses on Oct. 8, 2014, April 4, 2015, and Sept. 28, 2015, NASA says. NASA says there will be 12,064 Lunar Eclipses between -1999 and the year 3000.
During that time there will be 142 Lunar Tetrads. 62 will occur between 1 AD and 2100 AD. So they are considered rare events.
